ONE PUSH OF A BUTTON TRIGGERS THE REORDER
The smart.click button by IOX turns a single push at the storage location into an automatic order.
Project / Client
An industrial company wanted to simplify reordering in its consignment warehouse. IOX deployed the smart.click button for this purpose – a retrofittable IoT button that places orders at the push of a button.
The Situation
The client’s consignment warehouse holds high-value consumables. When stock runs low, they need to be reordered quickly – otherwise operations come to a standstill.
The Key Question
How can an employee reorder directly at the shelf, without going through other reporting channels?
What We Built
PRODUCT: Each consumable is assigned its own button at the storage location. The button has an e-paper display that shows the order status or a delivery date. It runs on battery power, so it can be mounted wherever it is needed.
SYSTEM: As soon as the material runs low, an employee presses the button at the storage location. The button sends the information to the backend via Narrowband IoT, which triggers the order. Restocking is then confirmed with another push of the button. Narrowband IoT is an energy-efficient wireless technology with excellent building penetration, even in underground plant facilities.
The Result
The button was deployed at the storage location, initially as a prototype. Reordering now happens at the push of a button directly at the shelf instead of through separate reporting channels.
Material now arrives on time. This reduces the risk of operations stalling because of missing material.
